PDP-11

This document describes the PDP-11/03 mini-computer, which integrates processing capabilities into four large-scale-integrated MOS chips. Despite its small size, it supports over 400 instructions, hardware stack processing, and an 8-bit byte/16-bit word structure consistent with the larger PDP-11 family. The unit features an asynchronous, bidirectional LSI bus for modular expansion, flexible memory options (MOS RAM, core, or ROM/PROM), and robust power-fail/auto-restart functionality. The system supports standard PDP-11 software, including RT-11, BASIC, and FORTRAN, and is compatible with a wide range of peripheral devices such as terminals, printers, and communications interfaces.
