DEC 3000 Model 400S/600S/700S AXP Rackmount Server

This document is the installation and owner's guide for the DEC 3000 Model 400S, 600S, and 700S AXP Rackmount Servers. It is intended for trained service representatives and covers:

• System Overview: Functional descriptions of the rackmount servers.
• Installation: Detailed procedures for preparing the site, unpacking, and installing the server into a standard 19-inch RETMA rack using the provided slide and cable management systems.
• Operations: Advanced operations, including the password security feature.
• Maintenance/Service: Procedures for removing and installing internal Field Replaceable Units (FRUs), such as covers, media devices, TURBOchannel options, memory (SIMMs/MMB), I/O boards, system boards, power supplies, and fans.
