Alpha V7.1 and Storage Controller Interrupts with CIPCA or CIXCD Adapters

This Information Blitz (2521-CR) alerts users of an issue where the Storageworks SWCC product causes virtual circuit connection interruptions, port resets, and system hangs on Alpha systems (V7.1 and V6.2-1H3) configured with CIPCA or CIXCD adapters and V3.x HSJ firmware. This issue in V6.2-1H3 is specifically related to the installation of the ALPCLUSIO01_062 kit. The problem is attributed to 'message free queue empty' interrupts resulting from the DUP protocol implementation in SWCC. Compaq recommends not using SWCC in this configuration until the PORTS TIMA kit, scheduled for release in September 1998, is installed.
