BA356 Documentation Error

This Information Blitz (2582-CR) corrects technical documentation errors for the BA356 storage shelf.

Problem

Documentation in the StorageWorks SBB Shelf I/O Modules User’s Guide and StorageWorks UltraSCSI SBB Shelf Users Guide incorrectly suggests that the connector behind slot 1 can be used to store a BA35X-ME terminator in single-bus configurations. Placing a terminator in this connector causes double termination of the SCSI bus, which frequently triggers Drive Fault LEDs.

Solution

• Do not place a BA35X-ME terminator in the connector behind slot 1.
• This position should only be used to store an unused BA35X-MF jumper module.
• If a terminator is already installed, remove the rear blower assembly to access and remove it.
