New Advanced File System Utilities

This document describes a mandatory update for Compaq Tru64 UNIX and Digital UNIX (versions V4.0D and V4.0E) regarding the Advanced File System Advanced Utilities kit. To address potential conflicts where older kit installations could erroneously delete the defragment utility, the operating system patch kits now prevent the installation of outdated AdvFS utilities. Administrators must install the newer kit, which correctly separates the defragment utility into its own subset. The document provides instructions for removing prior software versions and installing the new kit using the 'setld' utility.
