DIGITAL MultiSwitch 600 System Quick Start

This document serves as a quick start guide for the installation and initial configuration of the DIGITAL MultiSwitch 600 System. It outlines six primary procedures:

• Planning the Installation: Details the necessary prerequisites, including the Stack Director (must be at the bottom), Stack Stations, cabling requirements, and necessary IP network configuration details.
• Installing Modules: Provides step-by-step instructions for physically connecting the Stack Director to a mounting tray and stacking additional levels using Stack Interconnect Cards, wing nuts, and alignment pylons.
• Cabling: Describes how to connect a terminal or PC to the setup port (9600 baud, 8N1), connect modems for out-of-band management, and configure the 10Base2 or Management Access ports.
• Connecting Power: Instructs on connecting AC power cables to Stack Stations and the Stack Director, with safety warnings regarding grounding and power strip limits.
• IP Assignment: Outlines the menu-driven process via the setup port to configure the in-band and out-of-band IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateway addresses for the Stack Director.
