This document provides instructions for the PDP-8, 8/I Extended Memory Checkerboard diagnostic, a tool designed to verify the operational integrity of core memory. It performs testing by writing and checking four data patterns and their complements to generate worst-case half-select noise conditions. The diagnostic supports systems with 8K to 32K words of memory and includes automatic program relocation to test all memory stacks. The guide covers hardware requirements, storage location, preliminary software dependencies, and detailed step-by-step loading and starting procedures, including user-defined test limits via Teletype input.
