Quanat 1

General purpose conversational display subroutine

Order Number: 12-39

QUANAT 1 is a conversational display subroutine for the LAP6 system, developed at Weston Observatory in 1971. It allows for the display of up to eight lines of alphanumeric text with a limit of 17 characters per line. The subroutine uses question marks as placeholders for operator keyboard input, supports single-character deletion, and automatically centers displayed text vertically. It requires 376 octal memory locations and makes use of index registers 15, 16, and 17. The documentation provides instructions on programming requirements, text formatting, and specific handling of question mark fields, including a trial-and-error approach for multiple entries.
