PDP-8/E Options

This document, Chapter 7 of the PDP-8/E handbook, covers the hardware options available for the PDP-8/E computer system. It is divided into four main sections:

• Section 1: Mechanical Expansion Options: Covers system expander boxes (BA8-AA, BA8-AB, BE8-A) and panel options (KC8-EC, KC8-EB).
• Section 2: Computer Internal Options: Describes the Extended Arithmetic Element (KE8-E), memory extension and time-sharing options (KM8-E), memory parity (MP8-E), read-only memory modules (MR8-EA/EB), bootstrap loaders (M18-E), and various real-time clocks (DK8-EA, EC, EP, KP8-E).
• Section 3: OMNIBUS I/O Options: Details console teleprinters (LA30, ASR 33), paper tape readers and punches (PR8-E, PP8-E, PC8-E), CRT displays (VC8-E, VR14), and plotting equipment (XY8/E).
• Section 4: External Bus I/O Options: Lists various external interfaces, data acquisition modules, and communication equipment.

Each section provides technical specifications, programming details, instruction mnemonics, and relevant octal codes.
