Disklook

DISKLOOK is a utility program designed for PDP-8 computers equipped with a 32-K DF32 disk system. It provides an interface through the on-line Teletype for performing the following tasks:

• Examination: Users can view the contents of any disk location (expressed in octal) by typing an address and a forward slash.
• Alteration: Once a location is opened, its contents can be modified.
• Examine-Next: A convenient command to review sequential disk locations.
• Masked Searches: Enables users to perform positive or negative searches for specific bit patterns within defined disk address limits.

Since the program does not buffer disk data, search operations are relatively slow. The document also details error handling (reporting illegal characters or disk errors like parity and write-lock) and instructions for returning to the monitor and starting the program.
