PDP-8/E Options

This document, Chapter 7 of the PDP-8/E handbook, provides technical specifications and programming information for standard peripheral options. The content is organized into four main sections:

• Section 1 (Mechanical Expansion): Details system expander boxes and panel options.
• Section 2 (Computer Internal): Covers the Extended Arithmetic Element (EAE), memory equipment (extension, parity, read-only memory), real-time clocks, and power fail detection.
• Section 3 (OMNIBUS I/O Equipment): Describes console teleprinters (DECwriter), paper tape readers and punches, and CRT display systems.
• Section 4 (External Bus I/O Equipment): Outlines various I/O interfaces, data communications equipment (modem interfaces), and redundancy check options.
