Maintenance

This document (Chapter 4) provides essential maintenance information for the PDP-8/E computer system. It includes:

• Preparation for Maintenance: Lists required equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and specialized extenders, alongside maintenance programs.
• Diagnostic Test Routines: Detailed instructions for running various hardware diagnostic tests, including TTY Receiver/Transmitter tests, Echo tests, Print tests, SR-to-Address deposit, 4K core transfer, and a memory zeroing test.
• Preventive Maintenance: Outlines inspection routines, including cleaning (cabinet, air filters), lubrication, and mechanical inspection of wiring, modules, and components, with a recommended schedule of every 3 months or 500 hours.
