Symbolic Tape Format Generator

This document describes the Symbolic Tape Format Generator for the PDP-8 computer (Digital-8-21-U-Sym), released in May 1965. The program, which fits into 4096 words of core memory, is used to format symbolic tapes for assemblers like PAL II or MACRO. It allows users to condense tapes by converting spaces into tabs, or to properly align instructions and comments for better readability. The document includes instructions for loading the program, setting the configuration switches on the console, and operating the input/output devices (ASR 33 or high-speed reader/punch).
