Storage Array

This document describes the SA482 storage array, a high-capacity, high-reliability storage solution for large VAX and VAXcluster systems. Key features include:

• Capacity: 2.5 gigabytes of formatted, user-accessible storage (3.4 GB unformatted).
• Architecture: Adheres to the Digital Storage Architecture (DSA) and utilizes the Standard Disk Interface (SDI) for data integrity, flexibility, and performance.
• Performance: Features a peak transfer rate of 2.4 megabytes/second per spindle and includes controller-based optimizations like seek ordering and overlap.
• Redundancy and Flexibility: Supports multipath connectivity with up to four independent channels, allowing for load distribution and failover.
• Support: Includes a one-year onsite hardware warranty backed by Digital’s Field Service Organization, with options for various extended service plans.
