Overview
DECnet-11S Version 4.2 is network software that enables an RSX-11S system to function as either a routing or non-routing (end) node within a DECnet computer network. It is designed for compatibility with other DIGITAL Phase III and Phase IV products, supporting networks of up to 1023 nodes.
Key Features
- Networking Protocols: Implements DIGITAL Network Architecture (DNA) protocols, including support for adaptive routing, area routing, and task-to-task communications.
- Communication Interfaces: Supports synchronous/asynchronous lines, Ethernet LANs, and parallel interfaces.
- Utilities: Includes file operations, remote terminal support (CTERM, RMT, RVT), network management via the Network Control Program (NCP), and upline/down-line system/task loading.
- Configuration: Offers flexibility based on trade-offs between performance and cost, with support for specific hardware configurations depending on CPU type and communication interface requirements.
Requirements & Licensing
- Prerequisites: Requires the RSX-11S Operating System Version 4.2.
- Hardware: Specifies minimum memory and disk requirements, alongside a list of supported communications hardware.
- Licensing: The software is licensed for use on a single CPU, with various support and service options available from DIGITAL.
