DECnet-11S

Overview

DECnet-11S Version 4.3 is a Phase IV network product designed for RSX-11S systems. It enables these systems to function as either routing or non-routing (end) nodes within a DECnet computer network, supporting task-to-task communications, network file operations, and resource-sharing capabilities based on the DIGITAL Network Architecture (DNA).

Key Features

• Adaptive Routing: Supports efficient message routing, with routing nodes capable of storing and updating routing databases, while end nodes offer reduced system resource usage.
• Network Services: Offers task-to-task communication, file access, network command terminal support (CTERM), and down-line system/task loading.
• Network Management: Includes the Network Control Program (NCP) for monitoring, testing, and controlling network components.
• Communications: Supports DDCMP for full/half-duplex transmission and provides Ethernet support for high-speed data link transmission.
• Configuration Flexibility: Node configuration allows for trade-offs between performance and cost, with detailed hardware load tables provided to assist in system sizing.
