DIGITAL VELOCITY SERVO

This document is a United States patent for a "Digital Velocity Servo," a servo circuit designed to electronically control the speed of an electric motor. The system monitors the motor's rotational frequency using a tachometer, which produces a waveform that is processed into a square-wave signal via a peak detector. This signal is then fed into both a shift register (to introduce a precise time delay) and an exclusive-OR gate. The exclusive-OR gate generates a square-wave output with a duty cycle proportional to the motor's speed, which is then used to control the motor's power. The invention provides a simple, temperature-stable method for maintaining constant motor speed without requiring the precision components or complex phase-comparison circuitry common in prior art.
