Typewriter Control

This document, Permanent Memorandum No. M-1101, details the Typewriter Control (TYC) program developed by Bolt, Beranek and Newman, Inc. for the PDP-1 computer in September 1961. The program is designed to assist in debugging and controlling other programs via an on-line typewriter. It provides functionality to examine and modify registers, execute instructions (including jumps), search for specific register values, and define custom commands. The document describes usage instructions, command syntax, available subroutines (get1, getn, and type), and notes subsequent modifications that added features for block memory parameter settings, data copying, and memory comparison.
