Guide to System Security

This document serves as a comprehensive guide for managing system security on the OpenVMS operating system (Version 8.4). It is organized into three main parts:

• Part I: Security Overview: Discusses security requirements, the reference monitor concept, and general design principles.
• Part II: Security for the User: Focuses on secure login procedures, password management, file protection, and auditing for general users.
• Part III: Security for the System Administrator: Covers management tasks such as setting site security policies, managing system access, implementing encryption, handling security breaches, and securing network environments and clusters.
