Jupiter System Development Plan

This document outlines the development plan for the Jupiter system, dated 16 September 1980. The Jupiter project focuses on providing a high-performance upgrade path for current TOPS-10 and TOPS-20 customers while ensuring coexistence with VAX. Key areas covered include:

• Program Priorities: Performance goals of 5-7.5 times the KL10, lower cost of ownership, and coexistence with VAX.
• System Architecture: Detailed overview of the IBOX, EBOX, MBOX, and PORT components.
• Development: Strategy for breadboard and prototype builds, software development timing, and the use of CAD tools like SUDS and SAGE2.
• Cost: Development budget and manufacturing cost projections.
• Realization Strategies: Manufacturing goals, assembly processes, qualification testing, and maintenance plans aimed at high availability.

The plan serves as a roadmap for the Large Systems Group to bring the Jupiter system to production.
