Q-VET

This document serves as the 'Read Me' guide for Q-VET, a system verification tool included on the Alpha Systems Firmware Update CD. Q-VET is intended for use exclusively by authorized Hewlett-Packard Service Personnel and Service Partners to verify new system installations before cluster configuration or connection to storage devices containing customer data. The guide covers:

• System Requirements: Details regarding OS compatibility and necessary swap/pagefile space for OpenVMS and Tru64 UNIX.
• Installation Procedures: Step-by-step instructions for installing Q-VET on both operating systems, including pre-installation configuration and tuning.
• Usage: Guidelines for running the Long IVP (Installation Verification Procedure) script, which is the full test suite.
• Result Review: Procedures for interpreting Q-VET run results and utilizing the Summary Log.
• De-installation: Essential steps to uninstall Q-VET and restore original system tuning after verification is complete to prevent data loss or misconfiguration.

CAUTION: Q-VET includes non-IVP scripts that may reformat hard drives. Users are strictly advised to follow all warnings to prevent the destruction of valuable data.
