This document describes DTBOOT, a bootstrap program designed for the DECsystem-10 computer family. DTBOOT facilitates the transfer of programs between core storage and DECtape files, along with various utility functions.
DTBOOT requires a DECsystem-10 processor, console typewriter, and at least one DECtape transport. It is loaded into memory from paper tape via the READIN switch. Operators control the program using simple command strings (e.g., DTA3:TOPS10.SAV/L) and various switches to clear core, set starting addresses, or merge files.
DTBOOT is intended to supersede the older TENDMP program, offering advantages such as:
- Better support for long .SAV files.
- More standard command syntax and helpful defaults.
- Improved tape-identifier management.
- Better DECtape control handling.
