What Was Old Is New Again

This document outlines significant updates to the VSI ACMSDI (Application Control and Management System Data Interface) gateway and TPware components. The primary goal of these updates is to enable secure and efficient interaction with ACMS applications from modern non-OpenVMS client platforms using languages such as C, Java, Python, C#, PHP, and Lua. Key enhancements include the removal of legacy protocols (DECnet, AppleTalk) in favor of TCP/IP, the introduction of 64-bit Windows DLLs, the addition of robust SSL/TLS encryption using OpenSSL, and improved support for multi-threaded applications and multiple connections. Additionally, the software now features code generation utilities (using SWIG and a new tool called 'twiddle') to simplify the creation of client interfaces, provides an improved PCSI installation process, and offers a generic .NET wrapper for application development.
