Disk Operating System Monitor

This document is the official programmer's handbook for the PDP-11 Disk Operating System (DOS) Monitor, version V08-02, dated October 1972. It is intended for programmers familiar with the PDP-11 Handbook and the MACRO-11 Assembler.

The manual is structured as follows: - Chapter 1: An introduction to the DOS Monitor, including its core organization, hardware configuration requirements, and how to start the system. - Chapter 2: Detailed documentation of the keyboard commands used to control the system, load programs, assign devices, and modify memory. - Chapter 3: A comprehensive guide to programmed requests, including input/output services (READ/WRITE, RECORD/BLOCK, and TRAN levels), directory management, and miscellaneous system services. - Appendices: Include information on physical device names, EMT codes, subsidiary routines, summaries of monitor commands and requests, and a detailed list of DOS error messages.
