PDP-11

This handbook provides technical specifications and design guidelines for two primary PDP-11 bus structures: the UNIBUS and the LSI-11 bus.

Part 1 covers the UNIBUS, including its system architecture, signal definitions, priority arbitration, data transfer protocols (DATI, DATIP, DATO, DATOB, DATIP-DATO/B, and interrupts), initialization sequences, and hardware implementation details. It also offers design guidelines for interface developers.

Part 2 details the LSI-11 bus specifications, focusing on master/slave relationships, bus cycle protocols, direct memory access (DMA), interrupt structures, and electrical characteristics.

Appendices provide information on other bus types, specifically the high-speed MASSBUS, the multidrop DECdataway, and the PCL11 network bus.
