DIGITAL ATM Modular PHY Cards Installation

This document provides installation, verification, and configuration instructions for DIGITAL ATM modular PHY (modPHY) cards. These cards are customer-installable, hot-swappable daughter cards that provide media-specific ATM connectivity for various network types, including:

• Multimode Fiber (MMF) & Single-Mode Fiber (SMF): Supports STS-3c (155 Mb/s).
• Twisted-Pair: Supports UTP/ScTP (155 Mb/s) as well as T1 (1.54 Mb/s) and E1 (2 Mb/s).
• Coaxial: Supports T3 (44 Mb/s) and E3 (34 Mb/s).

The manual covers:

• Installation: Procedures for unpacking, preparing the host system, and installing or replacing the card using ESD precautions.
• Operation: Initialization of the card and using the onboard LEDs to verify status and connectivity.
• Configuration: Guidelines for physical layer parameters (framing, cell mapping, clock source, and line buildout) to ensure interoperability.
• Media Connection: Specific requirements, specifications, and vendor information for connecting cables for each supported media type.
• Interface Specifications: Technical details regarding pin assignments, power levels, and electrical isolation/chassis grounding for the various port types.
