PDP-X/II Programmers Console

This document, dated October 30, 1967, provides a technical description of the programmers console for the PDP-X/II computer. It details the two primary functions of the console: allowing programmers to examine or modify machine state for debugging, and providing information for system maintenance.

The document describes the various components available to the operator:

• Indicators: RUN status, 16-bit Status Register (SR), 16-bit Instruction Register (IR), 16-bit Memory Interface (MI), 16-bit Console Indicators (CI), and various Program Interrupt status lights (PI EXR, PI INR, PI INH, and PI ACT).
• Switches: Console Switches (CSW), POWER, and a CONSOLE LOCK.
• Keys: Various controls including Single Instruction (SI), STOP, RESET, CONTINUE, START, READIN, EXAMINE, DEPOSIT, EXAMINE NEXT, and DEPOSIT NEXT.

Each component's function and its behavior depending on whether the processor is running or stopped are defined.
