The DA-10 Interface is an optional unit that enables data and control information transfer between a PDP-10 processor and either a PDP-8 or a PDP-9 processor. Because of variations in word length and I/O signals, the DA-10 manages the assembly and division of 12-bit (PDP-8) or 18-bit (PDP-9) words into 36-bit words suitable for the PDP-10 processor.
Key Sections:
- Operation and Programming: Describes the indicator and power control panels, device selection methods, and provides instruction details for PDP-10, PDP-9, and PDP-8 processors.
- Installation: Covers power and environmental requirements, space needs, device selection wiring, and cabling connections for all three supported systems.
- Theory of Operation: Details the data transfer logic, functional operation, and includes specific self-check diagnostics.
- Maintenance: Outlines preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance procedures, signal tracing, and provides a list of recommended spare parts.
- Engineering Drawings: Explains drawing terminology and logic symbols used in the system, and lists the supplementary engineering drawings found in Volume IV of the PDP-10 Peripheral Device Engineering Drawing Set.
